Stump Removal in the Greater Vancouver Area

We get rid of old stumps by grinding them out below the surface — no digging out a root ball, no huge hole in your yard.

How we remove stumps

When people say "stump removal," what they really want is the stump gone. At Stump Doctor that means stump grinding: we grind the stump several inches below ground level until it's out of sight and out of the way, then cover it or prepare the spot for grass, a garden bed or whatever comes next.

We grind — we don't excavate

Some companies offer full root-ball excavation, which means digging out the entire stump and its roots with heavy equipment and leaving a large hole behind. That's a different trade, and it's not what we do. Grinding is faster, tidier and the right choice for most yards. The remaining roots stay underground and break down naturally over time.

If your project truly needs full excavation

Occasionally a foundation or excavation project calls for the whole root system to be dug out. That work belongs with an excavating contractor — and once the heavy work is done, we can grind away whatever stump material remains.

Site cleanup and preparation

After grinding, chips can be left as mulch, raked into the hole, or cleaned up so you can add topsoil and seed or sod. Tell us your plans and we'll prepare the site accordingly.
